How to Apply for Electronic Dog License in Chengdu
In July 2010, in order to strengthen dog-raising management and maintain the city appearances and environment and social public order, Chengdu plans to launch the dog license system.
In March 2018, the electronic dog license system was launched, and the owner no longer needed to apply for a paper dog license, and the applying process was streamlined.
From December 7th, 2018, expatriates can also apply for electronic dog license with their passports, so that their beloved dogs can obtain "legal identity."

Restricted Areas for Dog-keeping in Chengdu includes Wuhou District, Qingyang District, Jinjiang District, Jinniu District, Chenghua District, High-tech Zone and other restricted areas designated by the districts and counties.
Owners are not allowed to keep 22 kinds of banned dogs in the restricted areas, which includes: Tibetan Mastiff, British Mastiff, Staffordshire Terrier, Akita Inu, Dogo Argentino, German Shepherd, Chongqing Dog, Japanese Tosa, Borzoi, Bull Terrier, Newfoundland, Cane Corso, Central Asian Shepherd, Great Dane, Drogue de Bordeaux, Neopolitan Mastiff, Fila Braziliero, Pit Bull Terrier, Irish Wolfhound, Caucasian Sheepdog, Kunming Canine, and Chinese rural dog.
Before applying for the license, we have to bring our dogs to a local epidemic prevention station or a pet hospital for a standard immunization test to inject rabies vaccine and obtain an immunization certificate. After successful vaccination, you will receive a standard immunization certificate for electronic dog license. Only healthy dogs can be vaccinated, and puppies that have never received vaccination are ready for the first injection when they are 6-8 weeks old.
Tips：The immunization certificate should include an immunization certificate code and a label of vaccine bottle on the immunization record page. Otherwise, the electronic dog license application cannot be processed.
Step1：Follow WeChat official account “cdquanzhi”, click "Dog Management" in the bottom left tab and select "Online Processing" to reach the processing interface. You can also go to the processing page directly through this link.
Tips：Some of the options in the process are only in Chinese, including the address of the district, the street, the breed and color of the dog, and the name of the public security bureau. Expatriates with language barriers are advised to translate and confirm relevant content in advance.
Step2：Select “Overseas Personnel” and go to the dog owner information confirmation page. After inputting the passport number, click "Check" to see if the passport has been used to apply for the license, then click "Next" and go to the dog owner information registration page.
Tips：At present, expatriates can only use the passport to apply for the license, and one passport number can only apply for one dog license.
Step3: Fill in the personal information on the registration page, and upload the photo ID on the passport and a clear selfie from the front. After selecting the district and the street, the detailed address can be filled in English. After completing the form, click “Next”.
Step4：Fill in the dog’s information on the dog information registration page. Dog's photos and the picture of immunization record page need to be uploaded. Choose the public security branch that processes the electronic dog license at the bottom of the page. You can choose the public security branch in your location.
Tips：Dog's photos must be clear and show the dog’s full body.
After filling in all the information, click “Submit” at the bottom of the page. If the submitted information is correct, you will receive your own electronic dog license within a few days~
Tips：The dog license is valid for 1 year, and the dog owner should re-apply for the license within 30 days before it expires. If the dog is missing or dead, the owner shall cancel the license within 30 days since the date when the dog is lost or dead.
