Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Accelerates Establishment of Electronic Information Industry Function Zone
On January 28, 2019, the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Electronic Information Industry Function Zone Key Enterprise Symposium was held, and persons in charge of electronic information industry companies like Intel, Texas Instrument, Dell and Huawei attended the event. In 2018, the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone maintained the rapid growth of its electronic information industry, with 123 above-industry-designated-scale enterprises that recorded an output totaling RMB300.05 billion; cultivated, introduced or established 17 enterprises in fields such as integrated circuitry, novel display and other parts of the industry's ecosystem; signed contracts for 13 electronic information industry projects totaling roughly 110 billion yuan in investment for five expansion and addition investment projects such as those of Unisem, Molex, Monolithic Power System and APSCD, and attracted the establishment of ten industrial chain support enterprises like Douqi Techonology, Western Xinchen and Si Power Valley to set up operation in the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone. The Chengdu Hi-tech Comprehensive Bonded Zone recorded 311.5 billion yuan in foreign trade for 2018 (excluding the Shuangliu Industrial Park), marking a year-on-year increase of 31% and accounting for 52% of Sichuan Province's total foreign trade. Of which, export soared YoY by 40% to RMB168.6 billion, accounting for 51% of Sichuan Province's total export, while import climbed by 22% compared to last year to RMB142.8 billion, accounting for 55% of Sichuan Province's total import. The Chengdu Hi-tech Comprehensive Bonded Zone (including the Shuangliu Industrial Park) recorded 352.1 billion yuan in foreign trade, overtaking the Kunshan Comprehensive Bonded Zone and the Zhengzhou Xinzheng Comprehensive Bonded Zone for the first time to become the number one comprehensive bonded zone in China.
In 2018, the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone started 60 public construction and support projects such as the Experimental High School Attached to UESTC; finished the construction of approximately 169.5km of primary and secondary trunk roads and branch roads, while also completing roughly 94% of drainage and other relevant support pipe and cable works; raised processing capacity at sewage plants to 70,000 tons/day; added dedicated substations, "dual gigabit" communication networks and other basic support facilities; completed the construction of 420,000 square meters of standard factory buildings, and commenced the constructions for 26,000 square meters of professional buildings and 240,000 square meters of talent apartments.
