Reunion, Another Year
Foreigners from all walks of life in Chengdu came to the party at 5:00 p.m. With a pleasant and lively atmosphere, this is the last important meeting before Spring Festival 2019.
Chinese New Year Party
Some foreigners wore their national costumes, making the party more festive. Like a party among friends, it offered participants a chance to take photos, chat with each other, or make new friends. With Spring Festival 2019 approaching, this party held in advance was already full of fun and festive atmosphere.
A variety of Chengdu’s famous snacks, such as Zhong’s Dumplings, Danhonggao (Sichuan Stuffed Pancakes), and Lai Tangyuan, attracted all participants to taste. Next to the red driedchiliwas the round and cute panda-like Tangyuan, tasting delicious and also looking attractive. Everyone therefore took photos of these delicious foods.
The project’s Internet platform—“homeinchengdu.cn” also presented Chengdu folk culture experience activities, to draw foreigners’ attention to take part. Furthermore, there was the woodcut and rubbings shaped the lovely piggy and panda designed for the year of the pig, winning warm applause from foreigners. They were also attracted to the backstage of Chengdu Shadow Puppetry, showing the scene that “Mo Chung Fights the Tiger” with craftsmen. Foreigners together with their friends used Polaroid to take a wacky photo, which became their first Spring Festival gift.
The evening party kicked off at 7:00 p.m. There were also wonderful performances from local and foreign performers in Chengdu. A choir of CDIS Chengdu International School sang an English song named HottaChocolatta, and a Chinese song called Rainbow. Mathew, a foreign visiting professor of Sichuan Conservatory of Music played two solos—Prelude in G minor (Rachmaninoff) and High Mountain and Running River. Overseas students of College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University, performed the opera—Quando Men Vo. The Chinese and foreign residents of Shenghua Community in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone gave a playlet called One Family in the Beautiful World, which told the story of Chinese and foreign neighbors helping each other in the international community.
