Chengdu Metro Line 8 Unveiled and Starts Off-site Commissioning
On April 25, 2019, Chengdu Metro Line 8 was officially unveiled and would start the off-site commissioning work in Chengdu CRRC. The train’s self-weight control technology has reached the advanced level in China. It is currently the lightest A-type train in Chengdu Metro. As the train's own weight is reduced, it can save more than 1.9 million kWh of electricity per year, effectively reducing operating costs.
Metro Line 8 has a total length of 140 meters and a width of 3 meters. The maximum speed is 80 kilometers per hour. The rated passenger capacity is 1,804, and the maximum passenger capacity is 2,564, which is 20% higher than that of the B-type train. It can greatly satisfy the needs of citizens travelling along the metro. According to the plan, the total number of trains in the first phase of Line 8 will reach 43, and the train bodies will be produced locally in Chengdu.
