Chengdu's Foreign Trade Volume Reached about RMB 500B in 2018
According to relevant statistics released by Chengdu Customs on January 27, 2019, the value of Chengdu's imported and exported goods reached RMB 4983.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26.4%, accounting for 83.8% of Sichuan's total imports and exports in 2018. Sichuan province’s import and export value with the United States, ASEAN countries, EU and Japan totaled RMB 404.94 billion, accounting for 68.1% of the total trade volume; with countries along the “Belt and Road”, the total imports and exports realized RMB 165.22 billion, up by 24.4% year-on-year, accounting for 27.8%.
In 2018, Sichuan Province exported RMB 223.19 billion worth of high-tech products, up 32.1% year-on-year, accounting for 66.9% of total export volume; imported high-tech products were worth RMB 206.68 billion, up 28.5% to 79.1% of the total imports. The import and export of processing trading was worth RMB 335.1 billion, an increase of 29.5%, which contributed 16.6 percentage points to Sichuan's foreign trade growth; general trade imports and exports achieved RMB 181.78 billion, up by 30.2%, driving Sichuan's foreign trade growth by 9.2 percentage points.
