19 Scholars from Three Chengdu Higher Education Institutions Named on List of "Highly Cited Researchers"
In recent days, Clarivate Analytics published the 2018 edition of its list of “Highly Cited Researchers”. Now in its fifth consecutive year, the list identified more than 4,000 highly cited researchers (person/times) in 21 fields of natural sciences and social sciences from around the world, including two scholars from Sichuan University, 16 scholars from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and one scholar from Sichuan Normal University. University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is the fourth highest contributor of recognized scholars from China, and among the top ten in Asia.
Objective data, namely the number of published papers and citations on the Scientific Citation Index (SCI) of the Web of Science (WOS), serve as the basis of the list. Clarivate then selects scientific research scholars who have published highly cited papers (as in researchers with citation influence in the top 1% for their field and for the year) within the past decade. The list serves to showcase influential researchers and their scientific research achievements in particular fields of science as commended by peers and associates worldwide. This year’s list included 17 Nobel Prize laureates, including two new laureates from 2018.
