Ancient Maya Art Special Exhibition Opens in Chengdu
On December 18, 2018, the Forces of Nature: Ancient Maya Arts from Los Angeles County Museum of Art Special exhibition jointly sponsored by Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Hubei Provincial Museum, Shenzhen Museum, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art opened at the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. The 214 pieces (sets) of fine ancient central American art collected by Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the largest art museum in the western United States, were exhibited in China for the first time. The Maya civilization made its debut exhibition in Chengdu, China's national historical and cultural city, marking an exchange between the ancient Sichuan civilization and the Mayan civilization.
The theme exhibition hall is decorated with the most distinctive elements of Mayan civilization, divided into four parts: the concept of the universe, the worship of the gods, the animals in art and religion, the rule of the royal power and the sacred ritual. With 214 pieces (sets) of exquisite exhibits, these units depict the Mayan concept of the universe, royal power, art, society and life, while decoding various mysteries. Expert guide, exhibition hall multimedia, vertical projection, real-time online exhibition... The new interactive approach of civilization conveys the glory of the ancient civilization for centuries, and also the inheritance and development of human culture under modern science and technology.
