Chengdu Giant Panda Element “Debuts” in Premier League
On December 15, 2018, in the 17th round of the English Premier League Manchester City home game against Everton, Manchester City officially announced the adoption of a panda baby named "Fushun" in Chengdu. As a charity event, the club made public donation of 100,000 yuan to the research base, allowing it to adopt the giant panda Fushun for one year. The adoption of giant pandas is designed to advocate the protection of nature, cherish China's national treasure giant pandas, and pass on the power of public welfare.
During Fushun’s first public display in September 2016, he was captured in camera when he tumbled off the stage with his face down first. The photo was later included in Time Magazine's photo of the year 2016, and Fushun “fell” to fame. During the Manchester City trophy tour in Chengdu in October 2018, the Manchester City legend Paul Dickov headed a delegation to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda for the first time and met Fushun through the introduction of the base staff. The giant panda was recently adopted by Manchester City Club after going through relevant procedures.
