On August 31, 2018, the Global Coworking Unconference Conference (GCUC) was held in the City of Hibiscus. Sponsored by the Chinese arm of the GCUC, this was the first stop of the convention, after which events will take place in Shanghai and Qingdao. At the summit, it was announced that People Squared (P2) will officially set up its headquarters for southwestern China in Chengdu's Qingyang District, and plans were announced for the creation of ten of its establishments throughout southwestern China in cities like Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi'an within the next two years.
The Global Coworking Unconference Conference is the world's largest coworking office space industry meeting. People Squared (P2), one of China's earliest coworking office space providers, introduced the event into the country in 2015 and normalized its regular hosting thereafter.
