Construction Began in Chengdu for World's Largest Biotherapy Translational Medicine Research Facility

On December 12, 2017, construction for the Project of National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (Sichuan), jointly built by Sichuan Province and the Ministry of Education of China, and contracted to Sichuan University and West China Hospital of Sichuan University, broke ground at the Huaxi Campus of Sichuan University. Upon completion the facility will be the world's largest biotherapy translational medicine research facility with the most cutting-edge equipment, a high degree of integration, a high level of openness and sharing, and internationally advanced capacity. In the next three years, the project will also recruit and introduce one hundred highly qualified biotherapy research human resources from around the world. The Project of National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (Sichuan), earmarked for an investment of one billion yuan, thoroughly harnesses the clinical advantage of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, as well as the strength in medical resources of the Chengdu National Biotech Industry Base and the southwestern region of China.
