On December 6, 2017, train D4251 of the Xi'an-Chengdu high-speed railway (HSR), the first Chengdu-bound departure on the newly opened route, slowly came to a halt at its terminal Chengdu East Railway Station, and one of the passengers that alighted was Indian visitor Dev Raturi. On December 6, he boarded the first train of the Xi'an-Chengdu HSR and experienced a journey of "traversing the Qinling mountain range to see you". Back in 2013, Dev Raturi opened a Chinese-Indian cultural exchange themed restaurant at Tang West Market in Xi'an, and within a short span of just three years his culinary empire expanded from Xi'an to cities such as Beijing, Ningbo, Shenzhen and Chengdu. The commencement of the Xi'an-Chengdu HSR meant more chances for Dev Raturi to maintain close contact with Chengdu, where his fledgling restaurant business is picking up steam and where he aspires to reach great heights for Chengdu is a symbolic Chinese gastronomic city in his eyes.
