Chengdu Hi-Tech Development Zone: More than 140,000 Patent Applications, Intellectual Property and Standard Financing Surpass RMB 1.5 Billion

As the first National Intellectual Property Model Park in western China, as well as the country's sixth and western China's first National Intellectual Property Service Industry Cluster Development Trial Zone, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Development Zone (CDHT) has succeeded into engendering and realizing the rapid expansion of intellectual property service industry in 2017. There were 28,576 new patent applications and 9,254 authorized patents in the CDHT in 2017, a year-on-year growth of 15% and 16.4%, respectively accounting for 25.1% and 22.5% of Chengdu's total. Meanwhile, cumulative figure for patent applications reached 142,000 and an accumulated total of 62,000 authorized patents have been obtained. Enterprises in the CDHT have directed or participated in the formulation of an accumulated total of 698 international, national, industrial, local or group standards, with the number of international standards making up 90% of Sichuan Province's total, while the number of involved standards constituted one-third of Chengdu's total. Endeavors in intellectual property pledged financing and standard credit financing achieved notable results, successfully assisting science and technology SMEs in acquiring a cumulative total of more than RMB 1.5 Billion in funding.
