Chengdu Shangbao | release time：December 18th,2017
On November 30, 2017, phase one of the city's free public Wi-Fi "i-Chengdu" was officially completed and will begin official operation in the near future. The "i-Chengdu" program has become the city's first municipal-level Wi-fi-oriented civic wellbeing project, as well as Chengdu's first free public Wi-Fi with citywide coverage initiated, established, operated and maintained by the government. This project aims to resolve issues such as "poor signal" and "fake signal" that plague commercial Wi-Fi due to difficulties in operation and maintenance in the later stages, and intends to fuel the new economic development of Chengdu and the city's endeavor in becoming a famous software city of the world. At present, the "i-Chengdu" program has activated more than 15,000 AP for operation, covering key locations around the city including Jinli, Kuanzhai Alleys and North Chengdu Bus Terminal, and encompassing ten major application scenarios such as long-distance bus terminals, bus stations, public libraries, museums, science and technology museums and municipal-level permit and certificate processing centers. In the upcoming three years, the program will set up 30,000 AP hotspots within Chengdu and basically actualize full coverage of free Wi-Fi in main public venues.
